Beck-Bookman Library of Holton Reads to Preschoolers about Health!

Beck-Bookman joined libraries throughout the state to celebrate Kansas Reads to Preschoolers week November 16-22. Thanks to RN’s Henrietta Area and Katie Eteeyan, preschoolers at Colorado Elementary School and the Library were able to hear the Bear Feels Sick from a health professional.

RN Katie read to the morning and afternoon classes of Mary Porter and Terri Johnson. Library Director Candee Jacobs continued the lesson with songs and fingerplays and crafts. The children received a Curious George band aid to take home. Each classroom received a copy of Bear Feels Sick.
Nurse Henriette read to the Toddler Time children at Beck-Bookman. Parents as Teachers educator, Rhonda Mitchell, continued the theme with fingerplays, songs and crafts from the website during the library session. Each child who attended was given their own copy of the Bear Feels Sick book.
Jackson County Day Care providers were also mailed a copy of the book along with a packet of ideas for promoting the theme.
