Washburn University's Vice President for Academic Affairs Robin Bowen Reads to Kansas Preschoolers

Washburn University vice president to read to Randolph Elementary School children Thursday

TOPEKA – Washburn University Vice President of Academic Affairs Robin Bowen will be participating in Celebrate Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week Nov. 16-22, when she reads “Bear Feels Sick” by Karma Wilson from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Randolph Elementary School library. Washburn sponsors include the Curriculum Resources Center, education department and Washburn University Early Childhood Educators student group. Bowen's reading will be one of many taking place in the Topeka area. Washburn Education students are reading the book while teaching and volunteering in preschools, kindergartens, and afterschool programs. The department espouses a close relationship with area schools and many teachers are WU alumni. Student teacher placements, volunteer programs, and Washburn University Transformational Experiences often take place in Topeka's preK-12 classrooms.
